Lindenwood at US Navy tournament September 2007

The 2nd day wasn't as good as the 1st as we lost both games, 1st game we lost 17 - 6 against a team called Mersyhurst from Philedelphia. The ref's were actually HOPELESS!!!!!!! & I was wrapped for 3 majors - 1st time getting wrapped in my life! 2 were inside the 1st 3 mins of the game and then the last one was at the end with just a few minutes left. 2 of the sending outs were when a guy was one-on-one and he was about to shoot and was holding the ball in his hand and i hit his arm knocking the ball away, I then stuck both my hands up and got sent out for it! Never seen such a bad call in my life!, it was the same with a lot of other calls that the ref missed. Also they don't seem to call ball under a lot over here, seems like you get away with it a lot.
I did score 1 goal though and got someone wrapped for brutality when he punched me. It was quite a violent game, and one of our players had to go to hospital with a concussion coz he got kneed, punched and kicked in the head! Refs didn't see it obviously! Ted got yellow carded as well for protesting, he wasn't happy with the ref's.

2nd game was against Miami White Caps and we lost 23 - 12 but we played our B team for most of the game. If we had put our main team in for all of the game we would of won I think. I scored 4 goals in this game, and finished up 2nd top scorer for our team with 11 goals in 4 games. I was 2nd to the guy who plays in the pit - he's 21 and from Zimbabwe, I started every game and played basically every minute of every game as well!

We have a game on Friday & Saturday night which is our B team against our A team, then the weekend after that we're hosting a tournament in Lindenwood.

The Navy were good and this was the 1st time in 3 years that Lindenwood has actually won a game at this warm-up tournament !

On the Sunday we watched a game between the Navy and some other team - think it was div 1 standard, it was the best game I've seen! - very physical too!

Finished 9-9 after normal time, the Navy won a penalty with 3 secs left to draw it at 9-9 at the end of normal time, then in overtime the score was the same in the 1st half, then with 28 secs left in the 2nd half of overtime, the other team called a time out, set up the arc then the 1st pass was passed to someone who wasn't looking and Navy scored on the break which made it 10-9 then right on the buzzer someone on the other team caught a cross pass and scored to tie it at 10-10.

Sudden "victory" (its politically incorrect to call it sudden death now!) was then played and the Navy scored with their 2nd attack to win 11-10. Game had drama all the way through.

Ref's were rubbish as well - 2 coaches got red cards, and someone got wrapped for the stupidest thing ever! It was a penalty and he was the defender going in for the re-bound, he was already sitting outside the width of the goal which is where you should be but the ref kept telling him to move further away and he didn't move so he got wrapped - should of moved but he was the right distance away from the player to start with! Ali Campbell

Coach Greenhouse thought that the trip was better than expected and has helped to bond the team together quickly. He also said that he was surprised at Ali's speed and that he has the best lob he has seen - it cannot be a type of shot that is used very much ! Brian Campbell
