Match Reports - Women's National Leagues - 4/5 November 2006

The Caledonia women played 3 games in Middlesborough this weekend. We knew we were going to struggle as a number of the senior players were unavailable. There were also a couple of last minute call offs due to work and illness.
The following 9 players attended.
Chantal Guillot
; Kym Barton; Sam Souter; Vicky Witko; Alison Pettigrew; Jamie Hinley; Toni Bonner; Shaunni Henderson; Rhianne Brown; Susan Johnstone
Jamie was a very late inclusion in the team and we were fortunate she was able to attend to bring the numbers up to 9.
Graeme Brown was able to come down and assist with the management of the team. Thanks to Tom Cuthbert who arranged for the Caledonia team tee shirts which made us look like a team.

The first game against Otter was always going to be the hardest.
After a valiant effort we lost 13 - 3 with Sam scoring 2 and Susan 1.

The second game against Hucknall was a close game that see-sawed throughout and was nearly one by a last second shot by us.
The final result was 6 – 6. Scorers were Susan 3, Rhianne , Sam and Vicky scoring 1 each.

The final game against Invicta saw us in the lead for most of the game but falling in the last quarter with Invicta getting ahead after one of our players was majored out.
The final score was 8 – 6. Scorers were Sam 2, Rhianne, Shaunni, Susan and Vicky scoring 1 each.

There were a few team plays that we concentrated on during all the games.
These work quite well and spoiled a number of the counter attacks as well as providing us with a number of attacking opportunities. We are now half way through the competition and have 3 wins 2 draws and 3 losses. Now we have a good idea of the teams and there abilities we can focus on getting the players to the next 3 weekend’s of games and improve on the results.
