Match Report

 

Dunfermline defeated Warrender 17-11 to win the National Academy (u/15) Cup final which had been postponed from July. Dunfermline were without forward Toni Bonnar however Jordan Wood stepped in to play in his first game.

Despite losing the first goal through some poor marking Dunfermline hit back immediately through two goals apiece from Darren & Christopher Campbell and a goal from Andrew Woodall to win the first quarter 5-4.

There were fewer chances in the second quarter which Dunfermline won 2-1 through one goal each from Darren Campbell & Andrew Woodall to reach half-time ahead by 7-5.

The third quarter saw Dunfermline playing their subs who played well with goalkeeper Jake Hinley making some good saves drawing the quarter 4-4 through three goals from Christopher Campbell and one from Captain Jamie Hinley.

With the return of the rested starting line-up for the fourth quarter Dunfermline tightened their grip on the match to win it 6-2 and lift the Cup for the first time and complete the treble. Captain Jamie Hinley was delighted with the performance on the day and in completing the treble but cautioned her team-mates that the work starts in January to make 2006 an even better year.

The year has been a very successful one for the Club's younger players with many having only started playing this year, seven players having represented Scotland at u/15 level & two having attended the GB National Academy Trials at Millfield. The Club are currently developing a programme for 2006 for this group of youngsters which should be ready to start in January 2006.
