Senior Men Match Summary
Sat 6 Jun - Scottish Championships Finals - DWPC v Portobello
We made a very strong start going into an early 3 goal lead but Porty pegged us back with 4 goals in a row to lead by 1 at the period end.
8 goals were shared in the 2nd period with exciting end to end action so Porty led by one at half time.
With us fighting back to 11-10 ahead mid way through the 3rd period the game's pivotal incident occurred when Portobello's Emil Vilin was excluded for violent conduct when under strong defensive pressure which meant we had an extra man 6v5 situation for 4 minutes in which time we scored 4 goals to Porty's 1.
Despite Porty gaining player parity at 6v6 for the remaining 5 minutes, DWPC's stronger squad and intensive pre game preparation paid dividends as we took control of the play, scoring the last 3 goals of the match for a well deserved 17-11 win. Trailing at halftime we had won the 2nd half of the match 10-3.

Match Report - Scottish Cup Final - U17 Girls – DWPC v Menzieshill – Sat 6 Jun -Tollcross
Dunfermline U17 Girls are 2026 Champions
Dunfermline WPC’s U17 girls had prepared well for this cup final and lined up with the same 11 players who played in the semi-final v Warrender. Our opponents Menzieshill also fielded 11 players. A very positive first half performance which saw us leading 9-1 at halftime laid the foundation for an excellent 16-7 win in which all players made a contribution. Credit goes to our opponents too who put up a very strong fight in the second half despite losing Rosie Illes Brookbank on 3 majors early in the second period.
Per 1: Strong press defence and crash back on their CF and good goalkeeping from Eve followed by team counter-attack saw us dominate the first period. We gained 3 exclusions and scored two 6v5’s through Poppy and Ava who added another two. We also gained three penalties but unfortunately missed them all with the commanding Ksenia Mann in goal. A 4-0 lead at the end of the period.
Per 2: We continued to dominate in the 2nd period and gained an early penalty. We missed again but Hali did well to score the rebound. Further goals from Isla and a 2nd from Hali extended our lead to 7 before Ailsa D scored a nice goal from CF to open MH’s account. We responded however with another two goals goals from Ava and Hali for a 5-1 period score and a 9-1 lead at the halfway point.
Per 3: With the loss of Rosie IB, M’Hill changed their player positioning in the 2nd half and put up a very strong fight. Two quick goals from Eleanor C, one from a penalty, reduced our lead. We responded well however with 2 of our own through Ruby O and Hali. We then gained our 5th penalty of the game and although missing, like Hali, Ava retrieved and scored the rebound. A 3-2 period score to lead 12-3 at the three-quarter stage.
Per 4: Credit to MH who kept working hard to share the last 8 goals of the game in the final period. Ava extended our lead before goals from Eleanor C and Libby D scored with accurate perimeter lobs. We kept attacking and Hali scored her 5th goal of the game with our first penalty conversion before Eleanor C scored her 4th for MH. We then gained but missed our 6th penalty of the game unluckily hitting the inside of the post. Ava scored her 7th goal of the game before Ailsa D replied and then Ava finished the scoring with her 8th goal with just 3 seconds on the clock. An exciting 4-4 final period but a very well deserved 16-7 win for Dunfermline. Congratulations girls.
Game Reflections:
As in the semi-final win, this was an excellent, very hard working and fully committed team performance that fully merited its positive final outcome. We combined well defensively to reduce the opposition’s main scoring threats and then countered strongly to create many goalscoring opportunities of which 16 were converted. Leading 9-1 at half time we were able to give all of our 11 of our players water time.
Areas to work on:
- Converting our penalty opportunities.
- Shoot with more power and conviction when scoring opportunities are created. Keep moving forward to get as close to the goal as possible.
- Putting pressure on perimeter shooters more quickly with the GK moving back towards the goal line to jump late for dropping lob shots.
- Match Statistics:
- Team & Goal scorers ( ): Eve Fielding, Ruby Oswald (1), Ava Thornton (8) Hali Farah (4 + 1 pen)), Jessica Comerford, Niamh Wilson, Poppy Reid (1), Isla Edwards (1), Molly Oswald, Rosie Hookham, Ellie Thornton.
- Exclusions/Pens conceded: Poppy (1 pen), Molly (1 exc)
- Man-up – 3 gained - 2 scored (67%) - Man-down: 1 conceded – 0 goals scored – (100%)
- Penalties: 6 gained – 1 scored (17%) although 2 rebounds were converted. - 1 pen conceded – 1 scored (100%)
Match Report - Scottish Cup Semi Final - U19 Girls – DWPC v KKASC 31st May – 2026 - NSA
Dunfermline WPC’s U19 girls team lined up with eleven players for their first game against KKASC this season. Apart from Ruby Reid (2009) and Lucy Macnair (2008), our team were all U17 and part of our previous days U17 SF win v Warrender. Missing was Hali Farah due to a family commitment.
In a very competitive contest, Kirkintilloch started and finished the game strongly to win the game 18-15. Congratulations to them.
Per 1: We made a very slow start with KK racing into a 5-0 lead by mid period with goals from Charlotte Smith (2) - (1 - pen), Neve Duncan (2) (1 - 6v5) and Lovisa McLeod. Weathering the early storm we tightened up in defence and then started to fight back with three goals from Lucy (2 penalties and 1 perimeter shot) to finish the period at 3-5.
Per 2: An excellent perimeter shot from Poppy pulled another back before goals from Louisa Hendry and Lovisa M put KK three ahead. We then staged another min comeback with high energy defence and counter-attack to score four goals through Ava (3- from the perimeter and on the drive) and Lucy when 6v5. We now led 8-7. KK increased tempo again however to gain two exclusions but we did well to defend them before late goals from Elena Sands and Neve D again when 6v5 resulted in a 5-4 period scoreline with us trailing 8-9 at the halfway stage.
Per 3: KK increased their lead at the start of the period with Neve D’s 4th goal. We then did well to save a 5v6 before we pulled level with goals from Lucy when 6v5 and Ava from the perimeter. As the game flowed from on end to the other the next 6 goals were shared. Charlotte scored and then Ava equalised. KK went two ahead through a Charlotte penalty and a shot from Louisa H. we conceded an exclusion but saved the 6v5 before we pulled another two goals back through Lucy’s 6th and one from Ellie on the counter-attack. A 5-4 period score which meant that the game was tied at 13-13 at the three-quarter stage.
Per 4: Despite continuing to work very hard, our team were beginning to tire. We had also lost Centre Back Poppy for her 3rd Major foul in the 3rd period which required a team reshuffle. This allowed KK to finish strongly for a 5-2 period win. Charlotte scored first from a penalty and then Lovisa put KK two up. Isla then scored a nice first time shot on the left wing. KK stepped up again and further goals from Neve and Charlotte put them three up. Lucy then scored with a good perimeter shot after time out. After a contested mid-pool reversal, KK were given the opportunity to attack again, gained an exclusion which was then converted by Neve D. We kept attacking though and gained our own exclusion in the dying seconds but unfortunately were unable to convert with a shot off the bar. In the end an 18-15 win for Kirkintilloch. Very well done to them.
Game Reflections:
Our players should reflect very positively on their collective performances in this game. Considering the first five and last two goals were scored by our opponents we did really well to work so hard and compete so strongly to win the middle stages of the game 15-11. We scored 75% of our 6v5’s awarded and both of our penalties gained and worked together well to create and take perimeter shooting opportunities. Despite being penalised with 7 exclusions, we defended four, and 3 penalties our defending was generally resolute with everyone working hard to help and cover for their team-mates. Very well done girls.
In addition, as Lucy now leaves this age group, I would like to thank her and offer my congratulations on all her positive efforts and significant goal scoring contributions to our U19 team’s successes over the last three years. Very well done Lucy and happy 18th birthday.
Areas to work on:
- Defending driving players without conceding exclusion or penalty.
- Driving in on the ball all the way to goal when in open water.
